Recently, a team from the National Key Laboratory of High-Performance New Welding Materials at the Zhengzhou Institute of Mechanical Engineering published an article titled "Optimization of Wear Resistance and Wear Mechanism Analysis of Laser Melted Nickel-Based/Diamond Composite Coatings Using Response Surface Methodology" in the journal Tribology International. Diamond, due to its ultra-high hardness and wear resistance, is an ideal reinforcing phase. However, laser cladding of diamond-reinforced nickel-based composite coatings faces two major challenges: thermal damage (graphitization) to the diamond and weak metallurgical bonding at the interface, which leads to reduced coating performance. Therefore, it is necessary to develop parameter optimization methods and reveal the wear mechanism of diamond-reinforced coatings to promote their application in engineering wear-resistant components.
