What is the difference between a welding electrode and welding wire?

A welding electrode is commonly used in shielded metal arc welding, also known as SMAW or MMA. It consists of a metal core covered with a flux coating that provides shielding and slag during welding.

Welding wire is generally supplied on a spool, coil or in straight lengths. Solid wire is commonly used for MIG/MAG and TIG welding, while flux-cored wire contains flux ingredients inside the tubular wire and is used for FCAW applications.

Can Minghua recommend consumables for a specific base metal?
